Backups and moving phone
How do I back up my drams?
Open Settings (the cog on the list screen) and choose Back up. The app writes a single file named dram-notes-backup-<date>.json wherever you pick in the file chooser: your phone's storage, Google Drive, or any other provider you have installed. The app never talks to the cloud itself; it hands the file to the provider you chose.
How do I restore on a new phone?
Install Dram Notes, open Settings and choose Restore, then pick the backup file. Restoring replaces everything in the app, so you are asked to confirm. Backups made by older versions of the app still restore.
Android's own backup may also bring the app's data back when you sign in to a new phone, depending on your phone's backup settings.
Are my photos in the backup?
Not yet. The backup file holds every dram's details, ratings, notes and sessions, but the photos stay on the phone that took them. Android's own backup is the only route that may carry them across.
Scanning
A scan put the wrong text in a field
Every scan opens on the edit screen straight away so you can fix any field before moving on. Cropping tightly to one entry, or to the label alone, gives the best read.
If the same kind of misread keeps happening, email dram@wildsitecreations.co.uk and say which field received which value. Those reports are how the reader gets better.
Does scanning upload my photo?
No. Text recognition runs on the phone. The cropped image is kept with the dram so you can check what was read, and is deleted with the dram.
The shop page I pasted wasn't read
The app reads the product details most shops publish for search engines. A page that has none, or that needs you to sign in, comes back mostly blank: fill in what you can on the form. The link is kept on the dram either way.
The beta
How do I join the beta?
The beta page has the steps: email dram@wildsitecreations.co.uk with the Google account your phone uses for the Play Store, and the invitation comes by reply. The address has to match the Play Store account exactly.
The opt-in link says I'm not eligible
The link only works for accounts on the tester list. Check the phone's Play Store is signed in with the address you sent, and that the reply saying you've been added has arrived. If it still refuses, email dram@wildsitecreations.co.uk from that address.
How do I leave the beta?
Open the opt-in link again and choose to leave, or uninstall the app. Back up first from Settings if you want to keep your drams. Staying for the full two weeks is what helps the app reach general release.
Dram Notes Pro
I bought Pro but the features are locked
Open Settings and tap Restore purchase. The app asks Google Play whether the purchase exists and unlocks straight away. Make sure the phone is signed in to the Google account that made the purchase and has a connection for that one check; after it, Pro works offline.
Is it a subscription?
No. Dram Notes Pro is a one-off purchase. It is tied to your Google account, so it comes with you to a new phone.
Can I get a refund?
Purchases are handled by Google Play, under Google's refund policy. Request one from your Google Play order history. The app's author never sees your payment details.
Your data
How do I delete my data?
Delete a dram in the app to remove it and its photo. Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored. Backup files you made are yours to delete wherever you saved them. There is no account to close, because there is no account.
What does the app send anywhere?
Nothing to the app's author. The privacy policy lists the two things that use the network, both only when you ask: fetching a shop page you pasted, and Google Play confirming a purchase.
Report a problem
Bugs, misreads and ideas all go to dram@wildsitecreations.co.uk. "Report a problem" in the app's Settings starts the email for you with the version filled in. Say what you did, what you expected and what happened; for a misread, which field received which value, and a photo of the page or label if you can. Replies are from one person, so allow a few days.
